The Madras Tax Bar comprises of several eminent members who have contributed immensely to the field of tax.
The Vision Statement
Madras Tax Bar fondly referred to as MTB, is a registered society of lawyers specializing in taxation laws before the Hon’ble Madras High Court. It is a tribute to the fraternity of lawyers who have contributed immensely to the jurisprudence of tax laws either as a member of the Bar or the Bench.
The fraternity emerged six years ago, virtually. However, the importance of the group came into prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic, when MTB was involved in hosting webinars on a plethora of important issues, through the lockdown, thereby keeping the morale and the academic interest of the populace up. The group hosted around 150 webinars in the short span of 2 years. The Association was also engaged in acts of philanthropy by acquiring aid for those impacted by the pandemic.
Acknowledging the importance for our fraternity, the society is being established by a set of revered advocates. The society is intended to act as a catalyst for the growth of practicing advocates; to embrace the fraternity amongst the members of the Bar; to act as a platform to discuss issues of great academic and socio-economic significance.

The Madras Tax Bar or MTB in short, was created 6 years ago, beginning a remarkable journey resulting in development and empowerment of practicing members of the Bar. The Madras Tax Bar comprises of several eminent members who have contributed immensely to the field of tax. The Bar gained a massive recognition during the pandemic by conducting nearly 150 webinars covering a wide range of topics conducted by a unique spectrum of speakers.
The Madras Tax Bar, fondly known as MTB, over time, has evolved into a full-fledged society with the avowed object to create a spirit of fellowship and brotherhood among advocates practicing in the field of taxation. Our motto, ‘fraternitas in lege tributum” is a true reflection of this intention.
We hope to continue doing the work we do as a fraternity for the legal community and through that, we hope that we can contribute to the betterment of society.
